Investors who placed N1 million in Presco Plc and Okomu Oil Palm Plc over ten years ago have seen their investments soar to approximately N61.98 million and N42.12 million, respectively. This remarkable growth underscores the companies' status as leading long-term compounders on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).
According to Nairametrics Research, Presco's share price surged by 6,098% from N33.00 in 2016 to N2,045.30 in 2026, while Okomu Oil's shares rose by 4,112%, from N30.30 to N1,276.20. Collectively, a N2 million investment in both firms would now be worth around N104.10 million, excluding dividends and fees.
The impressive returns stem from strong business growth, with Presco's revenue increasing from N15.72 billion to N330.64 billion, and Okomu's from N14.36 billion to N198.15 billion over the same period. Both companies have thrived despite economic challenges, including Nigeria's recession and currency devaluation.
It's important to note that while the naira gains are substantial, the depreciation of the currency has affected dollar returns. An investment in Presco would have grown to about $46,671, reflecting an 819% dollar return, while Okomu's would be worth approximately $31,716, a 525% return. This highlights the impact of currency fluctuations on investment outcomes.
