A recent scare involving the NFT marketplace Magic Eden prompted a whitehat intervention that secured 3,832 non-fungible tokens from hundreds of wallets. This action was taken due to concerns about a potential vulnerability affecting the platform.
The incident was flagged by an NFT community member known as Cirrus on X, who noted that a single wallet executed the transfer of these NFTs, which appeared as sales on Magic Eden. As a precaution, NFT holders were advised to revoke permissions linked to their assets.
Yuga Labs' vice president of blockchain, 0xQuit, confirmed that the transfers were part of a protective measure and reassured the community that the NFTs are safe. He stated that the tokens would be returned once the threat is resolved.
This is not the first time 0xQuit has engaged in such rescue operations; he previously helped recover 68 NFTs worth over $500,000 after an exploit affected the Flooring Protocol.
Yuga Labs CEO Michael Figge indicated that a vulnerability had been identified shortly before the transfers, and further details would be shared soon. As of now, Magic Eden has not officially confirmed any exploitation of its contracts.
